The Susitna Valley has long been the epicenter of Alaskan dog mushing, serving as the starting line and first hundred miles of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. The Su Dog 300 honors this legacy and serves as an official Iditarod qualifier and a new opportunity for mushers and the community alike.
Participants will travel a 300-mile course from the lower Susitna River Valley into the rugged terrain of the Talkeetna Mountains. Designed with mentorship and learning at its core, the race emphasizes quality dog care, skill-building for mushers, and a welcoming community atmosphere. In the face of harsh and variable winter conditions, the Su Dog 300 prioritizes integrity, teamwork, and the joy of the sport.
Closing Ceremonies will be held on Tuesday, February 24, at 6:00 p.m. at the Willow Community Center and spectators are invited to join.
