Once known as the Tug Bar 150, the Goose Bay is a musher favorite race in the Wasilla area. It's an out and back where the teams will run out to Talvista Lodge (using portions of the Iditarod trail) before returning to the bar for the finish. There is a mandatory six hour rest and this is where the time differential will take place. This race is quite popular with the mushers and was the MOST REQUESTED addition to my race schedule this year (which I thought sure it was already on there, but nope, so good catch everyone!)
How to Watch
Unlike many of the races, the Goose Bay relies on Facebook only and even then the information is not easy to find as far as rules (there's a picture of the rules on the Facebook page, which was the same way they distributed the race entry application). They will have trackers, you can follow them here. For now you can see the trail map provided by the race on their Facebook page.
Tonight they will meet and chat about the trail as well as draw for their starting order, until then - as always - we will have the roster in alphabetical order, so let's get to it shall we?
